Whew! What a day of boating/egging. But it wasn't without a few speedbumps.
It was a beautiful day yesterday, so we left the dock with great intentions at 10AM. But had to go back when I got a call that my alarm was going off at home. So went back to the dock to find the sheriff coming out of my back door. Hello, Sheriff.
False alarm.
Left the dock again, but this time had a problem and had to call Sea Tow and get towed in to the dock. First time getting towed. This took 2 hours.
After conferring with a few boat captains that have owned boats for hundreds of years (apparently), we fixed the problem and headed back out at 2:45 PM.
This is the boat loaded up with all the stuff you need to go egging:
We found a quiet little cove and threw out the anchor, lit that mini and got to... what else? Shucking oysters!
Garlic butta, asparagus and parm cheese topped:
Next some coconut shrimp in the CI skillet:
When those were finished, I sauteed some mushrooms in butta and salt with a splash of white wine, no pic.
I found a new use for the cupholder!
After cooking the asparagus and putting them in a foil packet, I threw on some pineapple dusted with DP Pineapple Head. Put those in a foil packet too.
Next it was filets cooked on the steel plank - toss some kosher salt onto the HOT plank, throw some butta on it, and SEAR those steaks, 2 minutes a side.
While the steaks were resting, I quickly reheated the mushrooms, shrimp, asparagus, and pineapple. All were in foil pouches except the shrimp, which I put directly on the grid.
Plated:
Served along with my favoritist Chardonnay!
Perfect.........
By now the sun was fading and the shadows were starting to fall. The egg could still handle cooking more food~
Stick a fork in me, I'm done!
Got back to the dock at dusk. What a long, fun day of boating and egging!

And we spent yesterday working in the yaed! :(
Beautiful as usual Faith.
The water is so crowded on weekends up here that we seldom go out. Planning on a little cruise tomorrow and seatrout re-opens on Tuesday, so here we come!  :cheer: -

Faith,
Thank you for sharing, your photos are always a viewing pleasure. Does the stand take care of any heat issues, it has a nice custom look. Randy -
We still have manatees in the river up here, so the tourists are everywhere. They are just as nuts on the water as they are on the roads. Tomorrow we will have it to ourselves
What happened to your boat?
I'm glad you were able to make a good day out of it -
Thank you, Randy.
The table was built from wood scraps. The egg has a cement piece under it, one of those thingys that go around a sprinkler head. It is wrapped in foil. The wood underneath the egg gets warm to the touch, but not hot at all. That is with the egg at 400 and 500 the whole time, like 4 hours.Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

Frank, it was a gas issue. I am having it tested this week.Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

Good pics, Faith, but I'd be worried about losing the mini over the side of the boat!
-
Jeremy, it was smooth as glass in that cove. We had the egg on the floor of the boat while under way. Plus the thing weighs about 65 lbs. It's very stable.Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

Gas is a problem these days. Outboards and ethanol pretty much do not go together. There are several good additives on the market that help a lot. Yamaha markets a fuel stabilizer that is good, also an injector cleaner. I use a few ounces of the stabilizer with each tankful and the injector stuff about twice a year. Works well and is cheap insurance

Frank, the boat experts I talked to yesterday said the same thing. I am going to try that.Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

AWESOME!!!! Just plain AWESOME!

Faith, seems as if you salvaged the day with an awesome cook on the boat. The food looks fabulous!
-
Rebecca, the people on the beach were all wondering what we were doing. I know they could smell the smoke!Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

Very nice Faith! -RP

Use some of the injector cleaner first to flush the gunk out of your engine, then the stabilizer with subsequent fill-ups. Should solve your problem.
I goota get some more oysters! :cheer: -
Besides the speed bumps, looks like it was a good time. Now I want some oysters.
-
Faith...this's got to be the best post in a 100 years...or so..... You seem to be inlove.....with The Mini... FELICIDADES TO YOU!!!!!
