Got this recipe from a friend at work.
Tried to look up the on-line recipe to give credit but could not find it.
This is not a healthy recipe. It is loaded
with salt and msg, but you can tweak this a bit and it still taste really good. My friend leaves out the MSG.
This recipe calls for 6-8min in the deep fryer then finished in the oven/Egg. I have not tried it on the Egg yet but think it would only be better.
Recipe goes like this
1/2 cup salt
1/4 cup black pepper
1/4 cup MSG
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp tumeric
1/4 tsp ground sage
3/4 tsp curry
3/4 tsp onion powder
3/4 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp ground cloves
4 cups flour
Sift together, removing lumps
1 Cup does 8-10 pcs chicken
Use 1 egg and 1 cup of water for the wash
deep fry 6-8 min then finish on the Egg or
oven at 250 for approx 1 hr
**if you want a double coating use straight flour
for the second dredge because of the salt**
This is a great coating. I have also tried it on
shrooms with great results
A couple of pics
Hope you enjoy
Thanks for looking

What happens to the taste and recipe if I left out the MSG?

is it a similar recipe to the KFC stuff? we were talking about KFC last night
fwiw, i think a little investigation into the "msg" issue will reveal that it hasn't ever been shown (clinically) to truly have an effect, and that all evidence to th cntrarty is typically anecdotal ("My friend says every time he has chinese food...."). it's only when the food is know to have msg in it that people seem to have a problem.
that, and the fact that glutamates occur on many foods naturally, and yet those foods don't seem to be problematic, tend to imply that it is not as 'real' an issue as the anecdotal evidence would have us believe.
even alton brown is a pooh-pooer of the msg 'myth'

I haven't tried it without the MSG.
With the other spices, I think it is still pretty good
