Cut the backbone out of this 4.5-lb chicken and covered it with Richard's Holy Smokin Chipotle.
The Egg up to 350*, ET-732 and the Egg thermometer were close in reading. Put the chicken on a raised grid for 1h. 10min.
Pulled and served with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. A very tasty meal. This is the first cook with the ET-732 i did not set the temps. I'll do that next time, I did not shield the probe wires whey looked fine after the cook.

Eggcelent lookin bird....

If it was me doing that setup, I would put the probe in the chicken thigh instead of the breast. Nine times out of ten, when the breast is done but the whole bird isn't done quite right it's because that joint isn't cooked enough.
But then thighs are always a problem for us girls.

Good looking cook. Nice to know out of the box the 732 and the Egg temps are reading pretty close. Thanks for the picture that shows some green grass. Gives us some hope this snow were looking at will melt someday.

Here's a question. I'm still using a couple of ET-73's, and I've always found it easiest to replace the dome thermometer with the ET food probe.
Is there any reason not to put in place of the dome therm?? :S

I think you mean the pit or smoker probe. I often clip my pit or smoker probe to the big green egg dome probe. I have heard many mention replacing the dome probe with the pit probe. Not a problem unless it gets to hot. Tim -

Hey Ross, That sounds great. I assume your remote worked fine as well. This could be the go to device for us to use with much less issues as compared with the ET-73. -
ET-732...still waiting for mine. Was ordered but has been on backorder for a while.
-
Huh, my dealer has them in stock. I've got 1 1/2 ET 73's to use up first before I replace them.
-
Great looking bird Ross. Didn' use any smoke wood, Do you find it too strong for chicken?
-
Nice color on the bird Ross!Molly

Thanks Mike, you can't beat chicken

I didn't try distance on the remote this cook although it worked great in the house. Its first day was better than my ET-73 first day
Ross -
I hope you get it soon
Ross -
I didn't use smoke Beli, because I wanted the seasoning to come thru

Thanks Molly

Looks good Ross. Thanks for the look at the new ET-732.Dave San Jose, CA The Duke of Loney

Thanks Dave

Please test the remote distance capabilities on the next cook. My 73 will go through one wall/window but won't make it to my e, so I have to sleep on the couch for all nighters. Might upgrade if the 732 will go a lot further.
-
I'll do it on my next ET-732 cook

Looks great... except for that poor ol' daisy wheel! What happened to it?
-
It needs some tender loving care as well as the cart top

Ross,
Nice cook. Having a Wireless Remote Thermometer is a very nice convenience.
I have one myself but am always looking for something better.
I notice there or two probes. Is one for the Grill and the other for what is being cooked ? Does it show the two temps on the Remote ?
Thanks.
Enjoying this weather ? It's going to be 81 here is Canoga Park.

Ross,
After taking it apart, I took a wire brush to my daisy wheel and then hit it with two coats of high temp black engine spray paint from the auto parts store. It is holding up so far (over one year). -
Thanks Rich, I'll give it a try
