yahooooo..... Randy ( my cousin ) and I competed in a BBQ competition today. Randy was in charge of brisket, chicken, and ribs, I strolled in at the last minute and took charge of the anything other category. Heres how we placed:
2nd Chicken .............. chicken thigh's
2nd Ribs ................. st. louis ribs
3rd Brisket .............. whole brisket
1st anything other ....... stuffed softshell crabs[p]There were BBQ rigs as big as I had ever seen, and our little selves with 2 BGE's 2 BBQ Guru's sitting on my new little table. I'm not sure how many teams competed but from the visible smoke, you'd a thought there was a forest fire....... hehehe[p]Thanks go out to Dizzy Pig Rubs and Dr. BBQ's cook book ( instruction manual is a better phrase )
Randy had made a special purchase of the rubs from Chris and read Dr. BBQ's book from cover to cover TWICE before the competition.[p]Nature Boy, send me an email concerning those stuffed crabs. Or, email me your telephone number, we gotta talk.[p]

    Chef Wil,
Congrats to you and your team. I had a feeling you were up to some competing when you posted your new Egg Contraption followed by the photo of the stuffed crab. Plus, I already know you are a good cook as the judges soon found out. Wish I could have been there. Where did all this happen?[p]Spring "Grand Champion In Training" Chicken

    Spring Chicken,
happened here in Lafayette. Was a fund raiser for cancer survivors and their spouses. In 3 years, this event has grown to be one of the largest fund raisers in our community.

used the exact recipe excepting the use of bacon. The picture shows 1 slice of bacon, at the competition, I used 3 slices per crab.

    Chef Wil,
Darn! I wish we would have known. All we did was go to Hooters to exercise my eyes and Sam's Club to buy a couple of Butts. It's only a couple of hundred miles. I'm sure the oil magnets would give us some concessions for such a worthy cause.[p]Spring "Very Tired Eyes" Chicken
