The only complaint I have with the CGS version is that when I try to clean it, the grate slides around and I have to hold it with a second hand/glove. How is it with your design?Southlake, TX and Cowhouse Creek - King, TX. 2 Large, 1 Small and a lot of Eggcessories.

I use the the Big Green Egg Grate Lifter to move both grates around (http://biggreenegg.com/product/grid-lifter/ ).

Very innovative design, good job!

How much of a height difference is there between the top and bottom grate? Is there enough room for larger meats to sit safely underneath and not be rubbed when you slide the top grate?Large & 36" Blackstone
Memphis, TN -
@cmclean--I think Heli_guy has it about 1.5 inches and I got it raised to 3.5 inches. I had some food rubbing at 1.5 inches so got them raised. I placed ceramic stones to see if 3.5 inch riser would fit or not. It fits. (can send you the picture once I get home)Bucks County, PA

Design is based off the original BIg Green Egg 2nd tear. so height difference between lower and upper grate is 4"
-
Heli_guy is the designer. Thanks Somehow I had to raise my raiser by 2 inches ( which Michael did free of charge). Maybe I had the wrong measurements to begin with. So my "raiser" is 4 inches and height difference between grates is 5 inches . I have attached pictures of my current setup and am grateful to Heli_guy and Michael.Bucks County, PA
