Academy Sports B&B lump charcoal. What's your opinion on it?

I bought some last weekend and opened it today to do the turkey. I just finished my BGE charcoal that was pretty much small bits and pieces. I reached my hand in the bag to try to find a couple bigger pieces and these pieces were huge. Maybe it's because it says Texas style on the bag, who knows!! No small pieces yet really. What are your thoughts on this brand?

I've used it multiple times. It's fine. But I'm not a charcoal snob like some here. If the price is right I buy it. It's not Ozark Oak or Wicked Good, but it will get your food cooked.
XXL BGE, Karebecue, Klose BYC, Chargiller Akorn Kamado, Weber Smokey Mountain, Grand Turbo gasser, Weber Smoky Joe, and the wheelbarrow that my grandfather used to cook steaks from his cattle

Large BGE & Mini Max for the wok. A few old camp Dutch ovens and a wood fired oven. LSG 24” cabinet offset smoker. There are a few paella pans and a Patagonia cross in the barn. A curing chamber for bacterial transformation of meats...
"Bourbon slushies. Sure you can cook on the BGE without them, but why would you?"

It was much easier to get the temps up with the big pieces than with little gravel sized pieces.

If its not Rockwood, than it's not the best. I've had great success with other lump. I bought a bag of Rockwood so I could compare it. Good lump, but way overpriced in my area. It was twice the price of Royal Oak and marginally better, if that. -
I used a couple of B&B bags from Academy with no issue. Since I moved to SoCal I've had to change to Royal Oak at Home Depot. Both are fine in my opinion.

I have used it. I prefer royal oak over it because they are about the same quality and RO is cheaper. The BB is more dense and slower to light. Useable but not the best.
