Will the 18.5" model work on the Large BGE with a High-Que charcoal grate?

No, the Weber rails are to wide for the very small diameter of the Large lump grate.

buy another 18 cooking grate and cut it in half. Raise it with 3 4"-5" inch bolts to make a raise half grid to place on top of the stock cooking grate. This will give you 2 levels and you can put Heavy Duty Foil under to give you indirect.

I've used the Weber Charcoal baskets my neighbor let me try out in my XL that did ok, but I like Photo Egg's idea better and it is probably cheaper.

BGE has this for the large as well.

Excuse the lily white firering replacement.  I use weber baskets from my 26.75" kettle in the XL.  Works really well since the cooking surface is big.  Works good when you have a ton of wings to do indirect.
