CyberQ Infrastructure Problem
GoodTimes
Posts: 51
Hello everyone,
I had every intention on having my CyberQ set up to work via infrastructure mode and do a brisket, but now I am at my whits end. If anyone here could please explain to me how to hook this thing up properly so that I can use it to its fully capability, I would be in your debt. Below is what I have and also what I have done so far.
1. MacBook Pro
2. ATT Uverse 2Wire Router
3. I know how to use Adhoc
4. Read for hours on the internet
5. Logged into things that I do not understand (routers)
6. Followed directions I thought
7. Felt defeated
Thanks in advance,
GT

I can help you out.
I use a pc, but that won't matter. I also have u verse.
Make sure that you have entered the password correctly and it is case sensitive.
-
@theshaytoon Im currently sitting in front of my Mac and I've got the CyberQ running outside. I'm not hooked up at all to the guru. Do I need reset it to get to the Ad hoc mode, so that I can access the wireless settings?"This is America Jack!" Cleo McDowell

You can also set it up using the buttons on the unit. Are you able to pair up using ad hoc?
-
@theshaytoon Yep. Got it rolling right now manually by using the buttons and have hooked up ad hoc a couple times today. Its when I try to get involved with infrastructure mode is where the wheels come off."This is America Jack!" Cleo McDowell

ok...here are the things you need to know before you can get infrastructure mode up and running...You need to know the range of IP addresses that the router assigns to wifi. You need to know the SSID (name of the Wireless network). It is CASE SENSITIVE.You need to know the password to your wireless network. also Case Sensitive! And if you have an iphone/ipad, all these things are really easy to find...android based devices are cool too...what do you use?d
-
If you are using an iphone or ipad device, go to settings, then wi-fi, next to your Wifi Network name (the one that is checked, there is a blue circle with an arrow, tap it.You should see a screen similar to this...

@theshaytoon Also, I have iphones, ipads, imacs, ipizzles, ishizzles."This is America Jack!" Cleo McDowell

Got it pulled up on my iPhone just like you have it."This is America Jack!" Cleo McDowell

Ok...Your range should be something like 192.168.1.XXX to 192.168.1.ZZZ or 192.168.0.xxx to 192.168.0.yyyWe are going to pick a number...I use 192.168.1.15 because my routers range is 192.168.1.xxx to 192.168.1.yyy...I recommend picking a number close to the high end of the range... so if you range ends in 192.168.1.199, I would pick 192.168.1.198Then make the wifi screen look like this....make sure you turn off DHC on the cyber Q.Then save and reboot. once rebooted, in safari, type in the address you picked. it should take you to your cyberQ.
-
Hold on for a minute. I've got something out of whack. When I try to connect ad hoc and type the ip address in for the router a white screen pops up and says "It Works""This is America Jack!" Cleo McDowell
-
@theshaytoon I've got everything like you have it except which IP address goes where. I picked out an IP address for the guru. Sorry that I'm such a tech dunce."This is America Jack!" Cleo McDowell
-
The one you pick goes in the first box, the static ip address.
-
-
Click submit, then just reboot the cyber q. Open up safari, type in the address you picked...no www...just http://192.168.1.15 in my case.
-
@theshaytoon Ha! Got it pulled up!I just didn't pick out a new address and add it in. I don't know what any of this stuff means, so its pretty hard when you don't know computer lingo. So can I access it from my office computer now?"This is America Jack!" Cleo McDowell
-
If your office computer is connected to this router, yes...if your office computer is on another network, then there is a little more work to do!but you have it working in infrastructure mode, right?

@theshaytoon My office is unfortunately not here at my home, but is located in place where only someone insane would work. I've got the infrastructure up and running, which is incredible how many hours I messed with it and all I needed to do was pick out an IP address."This is America Jack!" Cleo McDowell

@BobsBGE I looked at my router and found out what kind it was. I googled how to log into my router and basically you have a guess a generic address for the router that will allow you to see its inner goings on. I poked around on that thing and found my ip address range. Do you know how to see your router stuff on your computer?"This is America Jack!" Cleo McDowell
-
I think I can find it. I thought is was visible on the iPhone wifi setting screen. Thanks.

By the time @theshaytoon sent me the photo of his iPhone I had already written my range down. I'm not kidding when I say that I don't understand this stuff."This is America Jack!" Cleo McDowell
-
Ok...so you ready to tackle the next step? This is your PUBLIC ip. write it down somewhere.Next you need to get into your router and go to a section called nat/gaming...most likely in the Firewall section of the router...if you find it, can you do a screen capture and post it here...might be easier if I can see what is on your screen...my router is a motorola.
-
or give me the model number of the router and I will look up the instructions.
-
sorry @BobsBGE , I didn't notice your posts...what is your Iphone ip address?it should be something like 192.168.1.??? or 192.168.0.???
-
-
@theshaytoon the router is a 2Wire that apparently is very common for ATT Uverse customers."This is America Jack!" Cleo McDowell

Pictrues are worth a thousand words...I need to see the rest of the page, but this should help....basically we need port 80 to forward to your cyber q ip, and the way we do that is by opening up a little of the router (port 80) and tell it that when some one from OUTSIDE the router knocks on the door, we want the cyber Q to open it...Here is a trick, when you are ready to test, take your iphone off WIFI, and let it use cellular data. then open up safari on the iphone and type your PUBLIC IP in the address bar.
-
@theshaytoon you are not going to believe this, but now I can't access my guru via infrastructure mode."This is America Jack!" Cleo McDowell
-
don't worry...what device are you trying to access the cyberQ with, make sure it is on the same network wired or wifi.and worst case, just unplug the cyberQ and let it sit 10 seconds and plug it back in...
