Guys- It's starting to get close to having to buy my better half something for Christmas...I'm thinking a color printer to go with her IMac desktop that is only 2 yrs old...any of you have good recommendations for such an item? I might need to start working on my excuses!

The Gutenberg 1439 is a good choice though not quite as fast as the HP6100.Hood Stars, Wrist Crowns and Obsession Dobs!

Thanks...I'll look into both options...I'm not so great with computer related items so I appreciate the feedback.

What's your budget?

More photo use/general household use...no making fun of me...it's Christmas!!

Very gutsy move to eggspect the printer to meet the SWMBO Christmas gift criteria. I would not be successful-the printer would be looked upon as a required item and then "where's the good stuff?" Just an opinion and we all know what those are worth... >-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Another consideration is how large a print you want to make. I really like my Canon Pro 9000 Mark II. It can print up to 13" x 19" and has a USB port. I attach it to my Apple Airport Express, which makes it a WiFi printer.__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious

I would like wifi capabilities...I don't mind spending a few extra bucks to get the "better" quality...it's for my wife so price tag is no option...okay, actually it is, but I figure I would need to spend in the 3-5 hundred range...just want to get a good one from the beginning. I told her I would buy her one in October for her birthday but we just couldn't settle on one we felt good about. Again I appreciate all the feedback...flying to TX today so I'll check all the different models later this evening.

I have an HP C310 inkjet as a second printer, does a nice job on photos, but consumables are expensive. Beware that the ink cost for a low cost printer can kill you, so look into the consumable cost. A $125 printer can require 4 ink cartridges at $30 each to replenish (give away the razor to get the blade business). Models change so often, it is hard to keep up. If you can find a knowledgeable retail sales person at Staples, etc, they can probably guide you well.XLBGE, Small BGE, Homebrew and GuitarsRochester, NY

I've had a number of them and do a lot of photo printing and they are solid.-----------I feel a whole lot more like I do now than I did when I got here.

I am with Lou here. This would be akin to me buying her a vacuum cleaner but worse in my house - worse because I am a computer and gadget freak and she would suspect an ulterior motive to get it for myself. (And she'd be right most likely.) So if you can pull this off then props to you!

Buy her a printer, but give her a special gift for Christmas.Large BGE, MiniMAX BGE, 2 Mini BGE's, R&V Fryer, 36" Blackstone Griddle, Camp Chef Dual Burner 40K BTU StoveBGE ChimineaProsper, TX

Special gift?

I use this with my Apple products.."AirPrint" enabled. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/envy-120-wireless-e-all-in-one-printer/6502192.p?id=1218752783757&skuId=6502192&st=airprint printers&cp=1&lp=1

If I were to offer that as a special gift she'll ask for the return receipt, or else she'd open the box and say there's nothing in here!! Thanks a lot... Now my confidence is shaken!!

I'm partial to Epson printers for photos. I'm using an Epson Stylus Photo 1400 wide format printer for work. It uses 6 colors that in my opinion makes the photos look more real. Next one will be "Air Print" enabled.
