Pork Burnt End Pizza....Yum!

Made pork burnt ends out of a couple of boneless butts this weekend. I like them a lot, but my wife LOVES them.

With the leftover burnt ends I made a couple of pizzas. The pizza's were outstanding!

For a special treat, I took my normal thin crust dough and before adding sauce, I brushed on a layer of olive oil/garlic.

That small addition made for the best ever pizza crust!

Wow! Its 4:29 AM (insomnia) and I want a slice. How do you make pork burnt ends?

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

We do this a lot with the last of the pulled pork. What works well, too, is to use your favorite BBQ sauce as the sauce. We use Bone Suckin' Sauce with pulled pork and go from there and it's been a winner every time!

  • We love bbq pizza with pulled pork,  Other italian faves work really great with pulled pork like spaghetti and lasagna.  Wilma freezes the extra pulled pork after I do a butt so it's always on hand to make whatever we wish.  Oink!

I used boneless butts instead of pork cushion meat this time.  Better than pulled pork IMO because of all the extra flavors added.

Just a basic thin crust recipe:

2 1/4 cups all purpose or bread flour
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp instant yeast
    3 TBS olive oil
    3/4 cup luke warm water

Cover with cheese cloth (I just use a clean kitchen towel) for a couple of hours

What really made this crisp up nicely is once I spread out the dough, I brushed a olive oil/garlic spread on top of the pizza crust before adding the sauce.

    Try it, you'll like it.
