Has anybody tried this, or even know where to get it?  One of my friends found a 40 lb bag of mesquite lump charcoal in the middle of the road, so he scooped it up for me.  I have not tried it yet.  I searched the company, and they are out of San Francisco and were founded in 1908.  I will let you all know how it goes when i use it.  Any advice on good uses for mesquite lump would be helpful!

Never tried that specific brand in that size, huge bag. If you want some mesquite flavour, try mixing some in with your usual lump, see this link.

I use it, here in Calif. I get it at my local OSH store for $10 for a 20lb bag. Some BIG pieces ya gotta break down but it burns good & taste good. Its the best price for lump that I can find around here.

Not to get technical, but according to chemistry alcohol is a solution...

It's all I use. I buy it in the 40lb bag for about $13 at a local "Cash and Carry".

My mom think's it's maybe a little "too strong" smoke flavor, but I like it a lot.

I think the lump comes from Mexico. (?)

Ha, whats a bag of BGE up to these days?  $40?

That is what i was thinking about doing, just for some extra smoke flavor that would not overwhelm

    Rickless,

You are correct, the kiln they produce lump from is in Mexico.

    Thanks for the respones!
