I know that if I was where two of my kids are (Alabama) I wouldn't have any issues with finding it, but I'm in the SF Bay Area. Anyone have any ideas as to where I should start to look for some bellys to make me some bacon?

Try oriental grocery stores or meat markets.

thechief: Specialty butcher, and Asian Markets are pretty consistent carrying it. Wish you the best! (And you mean bacon isn't illegal in CA yet??  )

Of course it is, Michelle. That's why he wants to make his own!!

But he can find watercress - no problem.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Tofu not but Edamame is pretty good. I love fresh produce. Grow a bunch of my own and have tons of farms a little bit south. Stop and get stuff all the time.

I think Michelle missed your original point. You should have said oregano. B)

From your recent earthquake post, sounds like you offended the smoking gods or someone.
I used to live in SF and Scomas is still my favorite restaurant. Hope all is well.

    Michelle,

I did a couple of years too. Would do it again if I could master Korean, Thai, Indian and Indonesian. :)

There is a small market here that smokes it's own meats, and I can get belly there. Also a meat packer where I got my caul fat.
