Hoss, Hoss, Hoss....my baloney days are over, but I've got to say it looks pretty darned tasty. Ingenious on your part - bacon wrapped baloney balls. This is your basic congestive heart failure on a plate....I will be sharing this with some of the folks at work (Director of Cardiac Rehab, Director of Cath Lab, Director of Case Management, and our CFO). Love it!
-
Thank E! I smoked a Fatty while I was at it too! :woohoo:

BTW,that ain't no storebought sausage either!
-
I'll have to tell them all about Fatties too! Hospitals nationally have 3 specific conditions for which all readmissions are measured - 1. Congestive Heart Failure, 2. Acute Mycardial Infarction, and 3. Pneumonia. I sit on a committee at our hospital for readmissions - thanks to you I will have a lot of information to share at the next meeting!!   We have a doctor who eggs every day (and I do mean every)...I'll be sure to include him on this new craze.
-
I had a heart attack just looking at the pics! Loney, mayo and bacon - on the same plate!! AND a fattie?! OMG!!
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Dude, it's a butt thing. Doesn't matter what you do to loney.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

We ARE LOOKING FOR INTERNATIONAL REPRESENTATION IN THE loneyhead cOURT. dO YOU HAVE ANY VOLUNTEERS?
-
Never really understood the whole Loney King, etc., thing, but your post amazes me. I do LOVE loney, but have not cooked it on egg, as no one else in house will eat it. But today's post is a must try over the holidays!!!! Wow....
Loneyus Maximus - I get it.... -
Thanks man! The 'Loney court is just something a few of us came up with to have a little fun.
-
Are there any proportions to you mix, or more just adding and tasting till you hit the sweet spot. Some direction for a first time would be great! May add some jalapeno to go a little Texas on that mix....
-
Go for it! We are always seeking new members.
Here are the basics requirements.
-
Just wing it.It is like regular ham salad or whatever, just use 'Loney for the meat.Be SURE to smoke the 'Loney first.Uncooked 'Loney does not make good 'Loney salad.Next time I would add onions, celery and some spice.Jalapenos or salsa or Bomba. It was ok but could have been a little more spicey.
-
How about some LaHossa???
That would definitely spice things up a bit. -
:( I gave it all away! :( Demand exceeded supply.
-
Sorry Hoss, one (no two) last question (I am sitting in garage writing recipes for my first loney attempt - nerd style
Did you find the bacon overwhelmed the flavor of your loney salad? I have done several things (recipe experiments) that I included bacon with lately, and have decided it overpowers the milder flavors, and I now add it sparingly, if at all.
OK, bonus question, for the "Schwetty Balls", how much time did you give them on the egg, assuming indirect, and at what temp.
Commited to stepping up to the loney plate tomorrow, Sunday. If I have to walk the neighborhood to find someone to try it, so be it
:woohoo: :silly: -
The bacon was leftover from brunch so I threw it in.Did not overpower. It was cheap wallyworld bacon, not much flava to start with.If it had been good bacon it would not have been leftover,HA!As far as the sweatty ballz, bout 30-45 mins on a baking sheet indirect(platesetter legs up) at 350 dome with JD chips.I sprayed em with pam and seasoned, cooked em, pulled off, wrapped in 2 minute nuked bacon put back on til the bacon got crisp then put on a plate and drizzled with honey and warmed that up.
I would add onion and celery and some HEAT if I did it again.(to the 'Loney salad)
