First Tri tip

I had a couple of tri tips cut for me when I was north in September. Finally had the opportunity to cook one of them tonight.

I salted, cooked at 700 or so for 4 minutes/side then took it off while I waited for the temp to drop. I probably should have turned a couple of times while cooking in the second stage. It was certainly more well done on one side than on the other.

Is ended up more like a roast than a steak! Nice meaty flavour though.

Also took the opportunity to roast a few sweet potatoes - turned out beautifully - the rug rat will have treats for a couple of days.
