Coffee Crusted Lamb Chops
Options
Pepper Monkey BBQ

This has become a meal we actually crave ... and had to have it again last night. Coffee/Pepper/Garlic/Salt rub on the lamb (2" thick costco chops). Smoked chops on the large with cherry wood ... then wrapped up some lightly seasoned and oiled red potatoes in foil and cranked the heat. When the chops were nearing rare ... pulled them and seared for a tasty crust in a cast iron on the small. Added some asparagus and what a meal!
Smoking the chops (taters in the foil)
Sear in CI for a tasty crust
Plated with sides. Lamb has mint/lemon zest/minced garlic/oil on top

It is pretty interesting ... but surprisingly good! Actually has a bit of a story ... we messed around doing some KCBS competitions this year and we celebrated our last one of the year with a lamb chop meal ... but realized we hadn't brought anything to put on the lamb ... so we used some of our brisket rub which is mainly salt/pepper/coffee ... and it was pretty darn good ... so I've tweeked it a bit and it is now our standard 'lamb rub.'

I'll second the mmmmmmm comment.

Nice idea. I use coffee all the time on pork and beef, but haven't tried it on lamb ... yet.
Thanks for the post.

Those look great!! We love those little lamb T-bones ourselves! Haven't tried them with a coffee rub yet, but sounds like a winner! Nice meal!

That picture on the small was killer!!! That is one of the best reasons to have two grills.
Was that chimichuri sauce on the lamb? -
That looks really good. I second the loin chop. I think they are better than the lollipops.

Nice! That is a great looking dinner, and the coffee on the lamb is a winner.
Costco is a good place to get those chops, way less $$$ than the grocery store.Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!
