Avocadough gnocchi with fire roasted salsa
Zippylip
Posts: 4,768
Last week while making the grenades, I started thinking about other ways to bend an avocado outside of its usual fate as lead guitar in guacamole. Thinking for a moment of the texture, it seemed apparent that it could, in its natural ripened but still raw state, be a good substitute for either cooked/riced potato or ricotta in a standard batch of gnocchi. So I mashed up a few & mixed with flour & egg, rested, doweled, cut, boiled, pan fried (kinda like pierogies to put a little edge on them), & served as an appetizer with sour cream & a little rub. For dinner, I topped with fire roasted chilies, tomatoes, onions, lime juice & cilantro along with a little dollop of sour cream.

Check it out:

Whip the ass-neck out of the avocados. For stand-alone flavor, I added onion salt & garlic powder to the dough:

Work it

The appetizer batch

The salsafied batch

“Gonna rock it up roll it up do it all have a ball” – name that lyric, win the prize (and no googling, I’ll know if you did)

after swilling down a few beers, I just stumbled across a few of the fried ones still in the pan that escaped the plate. Popped'm & realized they may actually be better cold. And steal away, the approximates are 4 very ripe avocados, one egg, a few nice shakes each of garlic powder & onion salt, and enough flour to make them workable, a couple cups at least, just keep adding till it doesn't stick to your hands like joint compound & you're good to gohappy in the hut

OK, looks awesome and all that, but you should have made it tomorrow if you were gonna use those lyrics.
And I still think the countertop is atrocious. -
And he should have watched "so I married a teenage axe murderer" before using those sacred lyrics

No, but that damn song will be running through my mind for the foreseeable future.
And, can I inquire, what is an "ass-neck"? -
Rebecca, thank you very much, but it does come in handy bulk packaging:
