Since the Twins didn't give much of a fight I'm glad Texas did! I hope the Giants get the win tomorrow. Finally a real World Series. No Yankees, Red Sox, and hopefully Phillies. Pulling for Texas. Twins in 2011!!!!

Au contraire !!!! The Astros went to the World Series in 2005. I'm not sure anybody knew it though. We lost 0 - 4.

I have been a Yankee fan all my life and was disappointed in the Texas series. But the Rangers deserved this. As Girardi said, "They out-hit us, they out-pitched us, out-played us and they beat us." Hard to argue that! Congrats to the Rangers!

I guess 28 will have to wait til next year. :)

I don't have a horse in this race, but Joe Girardi is our hometown success story as is slugger Jim Thome. They are held in highest esteem and always are in the news - especially when they return home for a visit. Their autographed paraphernalia are not uncommon items at charity fund raisers.

Ron, I didn't realize Joe was from Peoria. For some reason, I always thought he was from Chicago. All I know about Peoria is that I was there in January once and have never been so cold in my life!!

Yup - hometown boy! Here's a write up from Wikipedia

A native of East Peoria, Illinois, he attended East Peoria Central Junior High School. He then attended Academy of Our Lady/Spalding Institute (now merged into Peoria Notre Dame High School) in Peoria, Illinois, where he played quarterback for head football Coach Tommy Kahn and was the catcher for Coach David Lang's baseball teams. He went on to play baseball at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering, and he was initiated into the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He was the first freshman to be elected president of a fraternity at Northwestern.
