Any local suppliers of applewood chunks in Ark

Anyone know of any local suppliers of applewood chunks in central Arkansas? I've seen quite of few online sites and that's okay, I would rather find a local supplier if I can. I have found hickory and mesquite locally. I found a lot of wood chips but I think I would rather use chunks, less flare ups. Congo in Benton, where I bought my egg, has some pecan.

If online is my best choice, any favorites?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

    Doug,
Find out if you have any apple producing orchards in your area. A lot of times they have branches that they trimmed or were damaged in storms.

Doug send me your snail mail address and I will stick some in the mail to you :)

Both these locations are Ace Hardware Stores, our local Ace carries Apple, Cherry, Pecan, Hickory and Mesquite chunks. You might try calling them. HERE are the same product on Amazon so you know what I am referring to. I could not find them on the Ace or Weber sites but can get them in the store. Go figure!

best place is a crab apple tree, they grow everywhere up here, do they grow down there, you want the one with the sour fruit, not the one that just flowers. finding the stuff growing is good, you never run out. look for black cherry, wild grape vines, maple trees, oak, shag bark hickory(the bark smokes fine just pull some off)

Doug do you have an Academy Sports near. I noticed several in the state.
Salado TX & 30A  FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.

  • Yeah, there's one in North Little Rock but they just have hickory and mesquite. They have a good selection of chips just not the chunks. I'm not sure if there is any in Little Rock.

Hey Doug, Hoggs Meat market on Camp robinson in NLR used to carry a HUGE variety if chunks, chips sticks etc.
havent been in there in a while but if you get that direction, might be worth checking out.
also Kens Rash's on cantrell in LR has some chunks, not sure what.
also there are some apple orchards up HWY 5 not far from you, just north of El paso if I remember right.
anyway, goodluck, its good to see another central AR egge on here
  • Thanks Kendall, I'll check it out. I never thought of Hoggs, I grew up in Levy.
