Has anyone tried using the Splenda line of sugars in their rubs and sauces? If so can you post your opinions on how they turned out?

It works fine but I find it to be sweeter than sugar so I use less. -RP

I've made my own BBQ sauce with Splenda and Diabeti Sweet. It tasted the same as with sugar, but didn't get the char or caramelization when I grilled it, and found the sugar free sauce better just baked in the oven or on meatloaf. I'm back to using real sugar now and saving the Splenda for oatmeal :-)

Yes, I've used the Splenda brown sugar in BBQ sauce. I can't tell the difference from sugar. As the package says, use half as much Splenda as the recipe calls for if it were sugar.__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious

The Splenda Brown Sugar Blend is a mixture of real brown sugar with Splenda. It does have fewer calories, but people needing to avoid sugar shouldn't use it unless they read the label carefully.
Real sugar (or brown sugar) will carmellize. Splenda Brown sugar will also carmellize since it contains real brown sugar. The regular Splenda will not carmellize.Large BGE
