Wet Egg Inside

Okay. I cooked a meatloaf a couple of days ago, then a peach cobbler. The egg was running for a good 4 hrs at 350°-ish. I shut it down about 1/2 hr after I took out the cobbler. The table was covered with our patio umbrella and it had not yet rained but when I opened the egg the next day the entire inside of the lid was wet. Anyone else have this happen? It's pretty moist here especially in the fall/winter but if it freezes like that and since the egg is porous inside, might that be a recipe for a cracked egg?

No worries Badger and your egg can withstand any kind of weather. Once your gaskets get a little gunked up, the dome will freeze to the base occasionally in really cold weather. A little aluminum foil between the gaskets will solve that problem.

The moisture is just condensation. Perfectly normal especially in damp/humid condtions and if you haven't cooked on it for a few days. They will even get moldy inside if left for extended periods without cooking. The cure? Just fire it up and cook on it.

I live in a "cloud belt," and I and my Eggs rarely see sunlight during the 6 cold months. I sometimes forget to cover my Eggs, and they will freeze shut, especially if caught in an ice storm.

As mentioned, not to worry. But do get a cover of some kind. I just use construction size trash bags, and get a torch of some kind for the occasion of finding the Egg coated in ice, and needing a fire bath.
