Moldy Blue Cheese

Is it safe to eat moldy blue cheese? My wife says it's ok because it is made of mold. I think it's not because the mold on the outside could be a different kind of mold.

Not particularly responsive to your topic, but does anyone buy Leerdammer cheese. I only know it's from Holland, and it's supposed to be similar to Appenzeller...but better. Is it hard to find? Tell me about it?
