Roof or no??

My LBGE is on an uncovered patio. I started out the summer by regularly covering my egg, but it has been a really dry summer and i use the thing every other day or so and i haven't put the cover on for over a month. Is this bad? I've seen pictures of some of your nice outdoor kitchens. Is the egg ok longterm without a roof?
Thanks
Thanks

BGE is A-OK but you might not like running in and out of rain/snow/sleet/hail
we pull ours under the sun shade when necessary -- otherwise, they have a great green tan

Thanks, I hope to build a cover in the future.

4 years in snow, rain, hail, below 0°, above 100° and and never covered.
No problem for me. There was a small amount of fading in the green but no one would notice unless a brand new egg was placed side by side.

Is that no problem for YOU, or no problem for the EGG? :P :P  -
The egg is fine without a cover. It will be better with a cover. I have a cover over my kitchen and it is much more enjoyable cooking under the cover. As with many other things once you have it you wonder how you lived without it.

I set it up on the east side of a building, thinking that it would be nice and shady in the late afternoon. It is but since i got the egg i seem to be out there on weekends in the heat of the day getting a cook going.

The cook hates it and the egg doesn't care.

I don't have a pic of it, but somebody had a patio umbrella setup right next to their BGE.aka marysvilleksegghead
