Well, I finally found a Rutland gasket that I like AND the new band/hinge arrived yesterday from Mama! The hinge installation was easy and the alignment is perfect! LOVE the way it works too!!

The gasket I used is listed as a "rope" rather than "tape", but it's more like a tube in that it compresses nicely and actually looks flat when installed. Rutland part # 91N, 1/4"x5/16".

Now all I have to do is add a gasket to the ceramic top. :)

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Very nice and clean work too. ;)The hinge looks a lot like my XL hinges.

Forgot to mention that I installed the gasket on the bottom only. Also, the lovely orange stuff is Permatex UltraCopper. It doesn't stay orange forever. Turns brownish after a while and then fades to being pretty much invisible.

Thanks, Jeff. I know about the upper - had a Rutland on the Large since last winter. Bottom only.

  • Nice work Michael. I have two minis and cannot keep gaskets on either of them so this will be high on my "to do" list.
