How much room do i need to open lid?

I'm building a stone pit and may have a 6 inch backsplash. How much room do i need to open the lid w/o banging the backsplash? Thanks in advance!

    You did not say what size egg you have. I only have a large egg. Hope this helps. Tim

    In this pic I am approx 8 1/2 inches away from my rock wall.

    Now with the dome open and measuring from the same place it shows approx 7 inches.

    Now in this pic it shows you need even more room unless like you said your wall only comes up 6 inches.
