Hello Everyone, I need some help please! We are new egg owners and have loved everything we have made. Today I would love to bake a pie! Need help on which way the plate setter goes. feet up or down! Plus if you have any tips I would love to hear them. Happy Cooking! Wendy

Morning Wendy:
We have done them both ways, but I think having the platesetter feet up with grid on feet and pie on grid has worked best for us.
Here is one we did...
Have a GREAT day!

Wendy,
We recently baked breakfast pies at the Louisville Eggfest. The best way I have found is to use the platesetter feet down with a baking stone on top and then place three small balls of foil on the stone. This gets the pie high in the dome and keeps the bottom crust from burning. Use just three balls of foil under the pie pan to keep the pan level and prevent rocking. Bake at the temp you would in your kitchen oven.

HI! Like Jay said either way is good. just so that you have a barrier there to diffuse the high heat. do a good burn if you have had anything high in fat that has dripped down on your lump or even load up with fresh to be safe. get your temp up good and really truely make sure you have clean smoke if any. I tend to use cowboy lump for baking as it really has little flavor and burns pretty clean.
this one I have feet down and then my pie plate on the little green feet.
chocolate volcano cakes I did feet up on the plate setter and then a wire grid to raise the dishes up a little.

THanks everyone! The pie turned out great!!
