I can fix any of my bitter cooking now.

What it does:
Miracle fruit has a unique glyco protein that inhibits taste buds' perception of sour taste for half an hour up to a couple of hours. They can make lemons taste like lemon candy. The fruit can be used to enhance the flavor of grapefruit, strawberries, and lychees. The fruit also acts as an appetite stimulant for chemotherapy patients. The effects of the glyco protein masks the metallic taste that food tends to get after chemo treatment. The plants are best grown in containers, and they can remain in a seven gallon pot indefinitely.

"I can fix any of my bitter cooking now." You're gonna need a few more of those plants    Sorry, I'll sue myself now
-
Oh that's RIIIIGHT. I had totally forgotten about this. So...how's it working?!
-
I think it will even make Richards shots taste good.
-
It seems like it will produce a lot real quick. Just need to see how long it goes for. I sent you an e mail about a week ago to see if you wanted to try it with some patients, but I didn't get a reply.

They are the color and size of an inflamed tic-tac.

I'll pick one tomorrow and test it on my daughter. It worked last year when I got the tree with one dried out fruit. We split it and it worked great. We ate lemons and limes. The grapefruit tasted like it was loaded with sugar. Beer is suppose to taste like a milk shake.
-
Any chance you can dry some of the fruit, to harvest seeds? I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to try raising a plant...even if it never produced fruit, worst case scenario looks like an attractive houseplant.
-
Look up growing it. it's pretty tropical. Where do you live? also it does take a few years to produce. I'll send you a couple to try. If I get a bunch, I wanted to give it to some local chemotherapy patients. From what I read it makes the food taste better and "The fruit also acts as an appetite stimulant for chemotherapy patients."
-
that is so cool AL. my sis in law's sister just started chemo this week. We are all hoping for the best.

I got a tiny plant for my birthday in the spring--it currently has a few blooms on it, but hasn't set any berries. How long from flower to fruit? I'm thinking I'll have to wait until next year, as it is just 12" high at present.
-
let me send her some to try. email me her address. I know it works because I tried it. it says it works for chemo metallic taste side effects.
-
My bigger one I got last year had flowers all summer but didn't produce. last week I saw one fruit. Yesterday I saw a bunch of green fruit and some turning red. I read August is when they start and some sites say all year. I guess it takes a few years. The smaller one in the pic is two years old tops.
Have some tropical cherries and grapes.

That's COOL!
-
I've read about those. Where do you buy the tree?
-
The wine will be on your toes!!!
