My first Beetender was about $400. I took it back because it wouldn't keep beer cold outside in July (clearly says "Not fot outside use). The Coop is definitely "outside."

But then I found one for $100 and scooped it up. Worked well up into June but I unplugged it when it got hot.

But Woot.com has them for $59 now. A great deal if ever there was one. Of course you have to like Low-in-the-bra beer. About $20 in most stores.

Thanks for the heads up. $59 makes this tempting. I already have a Nostalgia Electrics beer chiller. It works fine, but not as slick as this and the motor is really loud/hot so I don't like to leave it on overnight. If I don't finish a keg, I move it to the fridge and put the cooler away. Can you just leave a keg chilling in the beertender for a few days/weeks?

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

You can keep a keg in it for a month. There's a countdown feature on the dial telling you how many days you have left. I've had beer beyond the 30 days and it was fine.

They give you a few connectors that taps the keg and takes it to the tap. You can order more from Amazon. The only item you need to clean regularly is the nozzle. It comes off and cleans easily.

I've also put my keg back in the frig to keep it cool. And it's a good idea to chill the keg before putting it in the Beertender. If you use it inside where temperatures are in the mid 70's it works great but outside with the changes in temperaure it tends to give off a lot of foam.

Figure about 20 glasses of beer in a keg. A bit pricy but it sure looks good on your bar.

  • Yes, I have this unit for heineken beer. I keep the keg in there to keep it chilled after buying the keg. Once tapped the keg will keep fresh for thirty days. there is a calendar countdown on the display that lets you know when you need to have the heg finished off. There is also a level sensor that lets you know approx how much is left in the keg as well a three temp settings. I have mine in the house all the time and have no problems with it. It is on most all the time and I have had no problems with it. I have had it for about 1 1/2 years. It's a nice looking unit but you are limited to Heineken beer.

    I forgot...

Here's Susan Egglaine drawing a fresh glass at the Coop Party. It was hot that day.

Thank you both for the replies. FYI they have Newcastle kegs now that are Beertender compatible.

The kegs are somewhat of a novelty item because you do actually pay more per ounce, but it is fun to have draft beer at home.

Just happen to finish one last night

Anyone know what the availability of these mini kegs are in Utah? I live in Draper...

I'd hate to buy this from Woot and have to drive to WY to get my beer. Annoying. (this state is strange with alcohol...sinners!)

We can buy 'em in super markets here in Texas, but then again, this is Texas. The sin here is to drink warm beer.

I'd call your favorite beer source and go from there.

SC - my Dad drove up here from TX last year to visit me and go to Oklahoma Eggfest. We went to the liquor store to get him some coldbeer (that's how we say it in Texas, one word, "coldbeer". My dad asked where the coldbeer was. The guy looked down his nose at him and said, where are you from? I thought a wonderful place called Texas where you can buy cold beer at the liquor store!!

As you know OK ain't all bad, they throw a great eggfest, but lordy can you imagine what would happen if they tried to outlaw coldbeer sales at the liquor stores in TX? There would be an armed revolt!

FYI - if you are ever passing through my old stomping grounds in Fort Worth, stop at place called 29°. Great food, and they store the draft beer at 29°!
