Not an Egg cook - not diet food B)

Had half of a french bread that went stale - perfect for pan perdu

Custard (approximate)
4 Eggs
3/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 Tbs vanilla
1/4 cup sugar

Soaked the pieces about ten minutes turning several times and poking holes with a fork

Soaking in the custard and cookin - put pineapple head on one side on the first three and both sides on the second three pieces after the soak

DPPH gave the bread a nice crunch on the surface

Topped with confectioners sugar - eat like a beignet at Cafe du Monde :)

That's what we Yankees call French Toast. And thank you for the idea of using Pineapple Head on it, because it's my favorite breakfast.

I keep a container of grated orange peel in the freezer and add a clump to the custard--it's a great addition. But Pineapple Head will go it one better.

I'm a real confectioners' sugar ho too...I even bring a small sifter dispenser of it to the table and keep on sifting.

    Thanks, Frank.

Before I read the words I thought of Cafe du Monde (you know I cut/paste that! ) when I saw that last pic. Only bad thing about getting this pup was we were going to spend 4 nights at The La Richalou in the Quarter starting next Friday. Love that powder sugar! ;)

I know a cajun lady refur to it as "lost bread" by her grandmother. Soundsabout right. She also called it by the cajun name, words that I cannot say ar recall. I guess I am a lingo dumbo. :):)
