I have a Big Green Egg I got from my neighbor that moved into an apartment & it needs a whole new paint job & it's rusted. The body is a light green now where it's all chopped off. Can someone please tell me how to make this look better? What kind of paint, etc?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Pics would help.

Can you post some pictures? When you say light green, it makes me think it may be an older clay version or early ceramic.

The cap on top is the newer ceramic from BGE. The egg itself is one of the original clay models. I would check it closely for cracks. It will cook well, but you will want to be careful getting it hot and sustaining high temps. It will eventually get brittle over time.
As far as painting and the rust. You can replace the bands with a newer one. They can be purchased at any egg dealer. The painting is a little more difficult. There have been a few members do it and hopefully they will chime in shortly. -
Yes it's a light green. I do believe it's an older model but not yet very familiar with this yet.

Thanks so much for your help!

As for paint a high temperature automotive paint should work fine after a good cleaning. It does appear to be the old clay type which you should not exceed 400 degrees while cooking.
