Help--My New XL is stuck closed

I've used my XL 3 - 4 times at low heat and tonight I tried Peter Luger type steaks at high temp sear. BGE came up to about 700 F, I cooked the steaks (great) and then put the ceramic cap on and shut the bottom vent. After dinner I went out to put away the plate sitter and metal cap and low and behold my beautiful BGE is sealed tighter than Fort Knox. No problem I thought and I opened all vents to heat up and open. That did nothing.
I shut all openings and would like to know, what's the next step.
Thanks

I'd open the vents again for awhile, that should do the trick.Molly

2 bad, so sad
next time buy a Primo, their gaskets don't do that. bge should be ashamed. there are numerous threads about this each day. -
If you still have lump in there you may have to soak a paper towel with olive oil put it in the bottom vent and lite it

It's an epidemic... 3rd posting of a stuck egg this week. Caused by adhesive melting and hardening again. Type "stuck" in the "search forum" box and you will learn all the options for opening the egg and replacing the gasket with something that will withstand the heat of a high temp cook. If the reheating that was suggested doesn't work, try working a table knife between the egg halves (there's usually some place the blade will slip in). If that doesn't work, try a box cutter or utility knife. You MIGHT get it open without damaging the gasket excessively but it will probably require replacement... Check out the options by searching "gasket"... Lots of ideas. Lots of stuck eggs.

Yeah the Primo forum is dead, like their kookers.

Well, I disagree. That is not always the situation. I've had mine freeze quite a few times. Some from very cold temps. If I can I will put a piece of parchment paper twixt the domes.
Usually helps.Molly

Well, he is a troll, but I am not. I just bought my BGE and will start using it for the first time tonight.
But, really now, shame on BGE for not addressing this issue (or domes falling off the band) and feeding the trolls. I must say during the set up of my BGE, I was not impressed with the quality. chances are Primo or whatever are not any better..
flame on. -
What an individual dealer / distributor does..right or wrong is no direct reflection on BGE....wether or not it should be..is certainly open for argument..in this case I choose to be the silent type..

Go Gettum Ron! Wish they weren't so nasty to us. I would really like a large oval but there are so many aggresive ones over there. Lotta great eggers and ceramic cookers over there on what is left of their forum.

Gadfly,
Man, every manufacturer can have problems. Trouble is, when they approve a prototype it goes to manufacturing. If a problem shows up a respectable supplier will do whatever is in their power to make it right. BGE tried and shipped out thousands of nomex gaskets free of charge. The gasket is a cushion, nothing more. See what happens if you blow out a base or somesuch. I guarantee you will be thrilled with the service.

I should have said "Usually caused by..." Since he had just done a high temp cook and, being August, it seemed unlikely that it had frozen shut. Didn't mean to pontificate...well, maybe a little bit

Thanks everyone (or almost everyone) for the help. Heating it up again didn't work but a utility knife did. Gasket doesn't look too bad after the surgery. I put tin foil between the domes. Will it get stuck eveytime from now on?
Thanks for listening.
