Why? Why not buy Dizzy Pig rubs?
-
I like Cow Lick on Briskets. That said if I'm out of Cow Lick which happened once (and only once), I used John Henry's Texas Brisket Rub to similiar results.
(psst: I prefer the Cow Lick.) -
All the Dizzy Pig rubs are Amazing... I've been ordering them for years...

Actually, I think Chris will tell you exactly what's in Cow Lick, or any of the others (at least he used to frequently). If you think you can buy the components and put the rubs together for less than DP sells the rubs for, you're mistaken. Buy the same quality of components in the volumes most of us could use in a reasonable amount of time, and you'll spend far more than the price of DP products.

the only rub i find similar to a dizzy pig rub is montreal steak seasoning is similar to dp raising the steaks, the big difference is that dp is fresh and vibrant tasting compared to mccormicks flat sat on a shelf flavor. im a cowlick fan over raising the steaks anywaysfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

Had bought spice in bulk cause it was cheaper and just would like to use them up before to long. Was just trying to replicate a rub with what I had and maybe just need a couple other spices. Thanks anyway

I have about 370 rub recipes in my data base. If you tell me the spices you have I will be happy to do a search and see what comes up. But hurry up as I am going out to a Thai restaurant in about 1/2 hour for the evening. Send me a real email addy and I will send back what I find. only need 4-5 spices otherwise it gets very complicated.

Cool, here are the main ones chile powder, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, celery salt

That makes sense. I wish I could help.

and let us not forget that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
it's easier for me to just buy the rubs with two small kids and all, but i admire someone wanting to try to recreate something for themselves. -
Found about 40. send me a real email addy.
