OK - In early June I went to the Redwoods in N.Calif then Oregon Coast, Washington St., British Columbia on my first (& last?) 3 week vacation ever... Awesome and HIGHLY Recommended. Three of those nights I made Fresh (right off the boat) Chinook Salmon on a Coleman Stove, just wishing I had my BGE. Anyway it was still incredibly awesome and I'm left w/ great irreplaceable memories..
Well back in ATL I see that we have Wild Sockeye Salmon (not quite as fresh - but hey), so I've made it at least 5 times in July and again on Aug 1... I've been using Soy Sauce, Lime, ginger/garlic/onion powders, fresh ground pepper as a marinade. Cooking it direct on a raised grid at 400-425 or so... Skin side up on a oiled grid, then flip after 4 min and cook until flaky... Just awesome. Here are some pics...

Cannot get me enough salmon !
My daughter lives outside Seattle and we LOVE to visit !
Just not enough sunshine for me ! -
I was a little confused at your post when I saw the filets - i thought it looked like sockeye and then I got to the end. Very nice fish.
I actually have some 'Indian Candy' smoking on the egg right now. So far it looks great. Sockeye is my favourite. -
We were lucky and had sun the whole time except for 1 day it was a little misty... The three weeks before we got there it was big rain...we just got lucky!!

So, is that salmon jerky? Sounds good, post pics.
-
I will. Hopefully it'll be done by midnight. The bge actually kind of sucks as a REAL smoker. I have a small peanut can on the bottom with my chips in it. Seems to be working but is pretty touchy.
Cold smoking on the egg is a little tricky. -
Time, temp, wood, species? Curious...
-
Will do. Let me see if it works first!

RU Eggsperienced, your salmon looks fabulous!
Sounds as if you had a remarkable trip. Looking at your handle, I wonder if you stopped in at the Jimi Hendrix museum in Seattle. -

Thanks for the complement!!
The trip was fantastic and wish I would have made it to the museum. We only made it to the Space Needle and Pike Place Market... That was the first night out of the RV and everyone needed a bit of a break....off to Vancouver the next day. Did take a picture of the museum/market (more salmon)! Had a great dinner there too..
Pike Place Market....(more Salmon!!)
