Potato Balls

After yesterday's Æbleskiver I thought I would try to make some savory Æbleskiver.
Adjusted the original recipe by taking out the sugar and substituting instant potato flakes  for flour. Okay it's a little weird - we never have instant potatoes.
Recipe
1 egg
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1-1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 Tbsp melted butter
1/2 cup milk
1 cup plain yogurt
Chopped chives
Adjust with yogurt to consistency of a little thicker than pancake batter
Into the Æbleskiver pan

Flip

Done

Went plain just to see if it would work.
Next time some garlic, bacon, cheese, etc.

I want to JOIN.....Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd. -
Frank,
Those look delicious and sound sort of like round mashed tator pancakes!
...but I'll stick to my melon baller ones!

Nice looking change. When can we EGGspect the crab and fish balls?? LOL

Great idea Frank. How did they taste?

Thanks, Mike - what's neat is there is no waste. First I peel the potatoes, then cut the balls with the baller. It takes practice, but you'd be surprised how well those spheres come out. Then I take the hollowed out carcasses to a shredder to make hash browns. The trick I learned is to quickly par-boil those shredded tators and then they can be frozen for frying with future breakfasts!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

Man, anything with gravy over it is my friend! :P
-
LOL - except that wasn't gravy - it was Bearnaise sauce poured on those balls and tender fillets...one of Pat's favorite meals!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time
