Interested in getting a dutch oven for my large Egg. What would be a good choice?

I got a Lodge, not sure how big it is but it's way big enough for anything I do (lotta beans). One thing I wish it had was the handle that spans from side to side; mine just has two little ears on either side. I have handle envy when people post pics with the nice easy to handle wire bail.
  • I have a 6qt. that I like.

I have two Lodges which I really like. One is the normal flat bottom and the other is the camp style with 3 legs. Personally I prefer the legged one when I am using my plate sitter and eggin at high temps as it keeps the bottom contents from burning. Otherwise I use my flat bottom one directly on the grill and egg at lower temps.

I got a Lodge DO from Bass Pro Shops. It's a great addition to your Egg collection. Usually about 40-60 bucks depending on size.

Some of the stuff I've cooked on that DO...

    Pasta sauce
    Chili
    Pot roast

All turned out very nice with a hint of smoke which gives it that unique taste and smell. I highly recommend a DO, you won't regret it.

Little Green Feet can be used on the plate setter to elevate & prevent scorching with flat bottomed Dutch Ovens.

I got a Tramontina 6.5 quart from Walmart.com -- Cooks Illustrated said it was almost as good as a Le Creuset for 30% of the price. They are $35 right now -- cast iron with red porcelain enamel. Fits in the large egg w/ ease.
