Æbleskiver on Crack
Frank from Houma

Playing with my Æbleskiver pan this morning
Mixed up a batch of Æbleskiver batter, divided it in half, and added a banana to half of the batter.
Dome temp at 400 to start but dome stayed opened during six batches

First batch - banana mix

Second batch - banana/pecan/nutella - pecan half on

Added the nutella - 1/4 tsp

Third batch - Banana and 3/4 tsp nutella

Fourth batch - Pineapple Head

The pineapple head melted prior to flip

Flipped

Fifth batch - Grape jelly

The grape jelly melted and had the effect of thinning the batter

Last batch - Peach preserves

Dusted with confectioners sugar

All good - the ones with nutella should be for dessert instead of breakfast

As always EGGcellent food and pictures. I use my large holder for stuffed shrooms.

Those look delicious Frank.
Until a few months ago I had never heard of them but I saw a aebleskiver skillet on eBay and bought it. I tried a few recipes to learn how to cook on the thing. This is a photo of my blueberry aebleskiver. I used a blueberry muffin mix from the store. They were delicious.
I've learned that real butter is better than oil or spray to cook them.
Now you've got me wanting some aebleskivers.

I used clarified butter in the pan - dey were gooooood

Richard - I have that pan as well - I think the dimples may be a little too shallow for Æbleskiver

Fun to make and funner to eat
-
Just like pancakes Faith - but pimped up a bit

Thanks Ron

Those made me hungry, Frank. Some questions please, as I have a brand new Lodge CI Aebleskiver pan:
What recipe did you use for the batter?
About how long does a pan of these take at 400 dome?
Thanks for posting. -
Mighty Mighty fine!
-
Scott,
I used the recipe in this link with a couple mods
http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/aebleskiver/Detail.aspx
Didn't have buttermilk - used skim milk
Didn't use oil - I used clarified butta
Split the batter into two batches and mashed up a banana in one of the halves
Read the first comment below the recipe - bet it was written by a real Dane.
They were all good. The one with the banana and nothing else was our favorite for breakfast. The ones with the nutella would be a good dessert. -
Thanks Frank. I'm doing these soon, maybe tomorrow, with banana in some and blueberries in others. If I can get photobucket to work again I'll post pics when its done.
-
I bought my skiver pan in October. Now I should use it. Thanks for the ideas. Anyone ever do savory instead of sweet in the skiver pan?
