What\'s your favorite fish?

Two nights ago I made a couple hoddock fillets on SBGE. I went direct, raised at 400*. Drizzled a little EVOO on top and sprinkled with DP Shakin'the Tree. I must say it's one of the best fish dinners i've made on the egg. This was our second time making haddock, and the first time was just as good. This will be my "goto" fish on the egg. Very easy to cook, doesn't fall apart, just put in on for about 10 mins no flipping. I LOVE IT! I've tried tuna (that was awful, i think i overcooked though), Salmon, hallibut, rockfish, mahi-mahi, cod, tilapia, and a variety of other fish. And i've tried them numberous ways, ceder planked, in a skillet, normal grid, raised grid, etc... This has been by far our favorite. I even like eating the skin, which on most fish (like salmon) I don't like. I'm not a big fish eater, but both times making haddock i've been extremely impressed, and wishing i had made more. Sorry, no pics, just thought i'd share...So what's your goto fish?

Jimmy, I can't help it but usually the one on my hook
All kidding aside Fresh very Fresh Tuna just seared on each side with a very hot grill, only a minute per side. It will be raw on the inside but oh so good. Serve with a little pickled ginger and wasabi.

fresh, alot on your list i cant buy fresh so i dont eat them. fresh halibut is just as good as fresh haddock but they are more rare to catch on the east coast which makes haddock a go to fish. tuna is right up there if you dont over cook it. native landlock salmon is my favorite but you have to catch it
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
Mine is King George Whiting, its got beautiful white flesh. Try it if you ever come to Australia.

-
Tuna, give it another try
-
My hands-down favorite is mahi, but around here, it's pricy enough that it's hard to consider a go-to fish.

We eat more salmon than mahi. -
I like em all - fresh is best but frozen works for me
Speckled Trout
Redfish
Wahoo
Haddock
Salmon
Tuna
Fresh haddock is difficult to beat - you can go several ways with it. When we lived in Scotland it was our go to fish. There was a fish monger who would go door to door selling fresh fish out of his truck.
Specks before cleaning
After cleaning
Redfish
I haven't blackened haddock but it would be outstanding blackened

Nice looking cooks.

Thanks "Doogie"

Probably didn't splain very well - because haddock is a non-oily fish, you can cook it in a variety of ways.

GOOD EATS AND GOOD FRIENDS
DALE -
My favorites of the darker meat fish are yellowfin tuna and steelhead trout.
For white fish I like grouper and halibut.
And it is hard to beat a properly fried catfish fillet. -
I want to go fishing with you one day Frank!
-
so many different types of fish... i'd say my favorites are
cobia
amberjack
tuna
in no particular order. -
I do too

Haven't been in a while - work keeps getting in the way

Salmon is my favorite fish. Has been since I was a kid. I'll eat most, but if I can get some fresh wild salmon than there's no further consideration.

And half of AZRP is that just AZ?
Thanks Frank, I couldn't wipe that stupid smile off my face that day.

Interesting that you chose Haddock as your go-to fish for the grill.
I love haddock and it's one of the few fishes my wife will eat, but I find that it is too breakable to cook on the grill. I think I cooked it once, skin side down and it was excellent but I believe the skin stayed on the grill when I lifted the meat off and then it was tough to keep it together.
A portugese friend of mine says Lisbon Sardines are the best fish to grill. I haven't tried them yet but they sound fantastic. you gut them after cooking.
My go-to is salmon filet or any kind of fish steak. -
Inland rivers: White perch
Ocean: Mahi Mahi -
Have to say it is what ever fish is on the end of my sons line!!
Maybe a brim
A catfish
Or an EEL
And sometimes we catch something we want to eat

Salmon. Planked on Alder. I get untreated Alder at the local lumber yard and cut it to length when needed. Egg at 400 direct, put the plank on the grill for about 5 minutes, turn it over and brush with canola oil. Then put the Salmon on, skin side down for about 7 minutes, season as desired, and the cook another 7 to 10 minutes until it just flakes. Don't overcook. Great right off the Egg and terrific cold. The Alder burns so have a safe place to put the planks when you pull them off the grill.

Am I the only one for Grouper?
Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd. -
We don't get much Grouper here in the Sierras. I'll be looking for some.

I've had many of those, but still stand my yellow perch baby. That's the stuff. Freshwater and fantastic.
