Ok, I borrowed a can of S.C. milk from my smokin hot blonde neighbor whom I dated a few times but never got "serious" with, damnit. ;)
Brewed up a half pot of extra strong mud, and mixed it up in a glass heaping with ice. Pretty Good. Not quite what I had Saturday night, but pretty good.

Thanks for the tips. I have some experimenting to do.
  • My better half is coffee-obsessed; we have no less than 10 different coffee making devices, from an espresso machine to a french press pot to a moka pot, vietnamese style "phe phin" single cup dripper, etc, along with a burr grinder and beans purchased direct from the roaster. BUT, for iced coffee, I use Cool Brew. www.coolbrew.com It's a cold-dripped coffee concentrate, available in several flavors (I like the coffee & chicory best). The plastic bottle has a self-measuring spout.
  • In case he/she doesn't have one - get a Aeropress. Makes a solid coffee plus is exceptional for camping espresso.

Also, pick up a Frisbee while you're at it :)
  • Glad to help out. Iced coffee on a hot summer morning while reading the paper is a great way to start the day.

Hi Evans, is that cold brewing where you make a very dense coffee 'syrup' and keep it in the fridge and just dilute with hot water when you want a cup of coffee? Or is that another method?

    yes...you're correct!!

We also like it as it's very low accidity due to the cold extraction.
You can "one or two cup it" in the evening...without that "I had too much coffee feeling" at bedtime!
Given that the caffine doesn't keep you awake.

    Me...? I'm immune I think...lol!!

    Great for desserts too!!
I spent most of my money on good bourbon, and bad women...the rest, I just wasted!!

I agree with fishlessman - chill it *QUICK*. If you brew coffee and then let it cool down naturally, it will oxidize and end up tasting like baboon a$$.

I put milk over ice, add in the hot espresso (I like 2 shots, my wife 4), and then give it a dose of homemade vanilla syrup. Give it a quick stir, and enjoy.

Coffee-mate? Have you seen what's in that stuff? :ermm:

My wife used to be addicted to that stuff, but I found it very easy to break her of the habit for good by making my own batches of vanilla syrup - which takes all of about 5 minutes.

    1 cup water
    1 cup sugar

Simmer until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and add:

    1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

    Let cool.

I keep in in a squeeze bottle next to the coffee maker. When we make coffee now, it gets a squeeze of syrup and some fresh milk (or cream, or whatever you want).

I get goosebumps thinking about what that coffee-mate stuff must taste like all by itself! Bleccchh! :woohoo:

I'll get off my soapbox now... :)

Boy the only thing missing is your own bean roaster, I have 4 of them, nothing better than roasting your own beans.
