I was a little confused. Publix called if "fresh shrimp, previously frozen". Sounds like not fresh defrosted shrimp. I did some with DP Swamp venom and a garlic marinade I bought from a vendor at Mangomainia in Cape Coral, FL

LOL..our stores use the same terminology, I'm not sure how you can call something fresh, yet state previously frozen in the same breathe....

All the shrimp that comes into the docks by me are frozen after they catch and clean it. You might as well just buy the shrimp from the freezer and not pay for them to defrost it for you.

    Al,
I expect that here, but not where you are. Looks like a good cook though.

Sad to say, the shrimp were tiny and a bit overcooked. I ate a few and tossed them in the garbage. I just figured I took the pics so I wanted to post them.

Shrimp spoils within hours, it has to be kept alive or frozen pretty quickly. The big offshore boats ice it down at sea. None of it is really "fresh." That is the world we live in

    Hi Frank,
I know it's frozen out at sea. Just thought it was it's funny how they advertise it. Most people don't know that shrimp my get defrosted a couple of times before they buy it. The only place to get fresh shrimp is at a bait shop. Live and better priced.
  • I am curious as to why you are even buying/eating those shrimp, but what has me even curiouser is why you are buying/eating brussell sprouts!!! WHAAA?

In my household, we refer to a product like that as "once fresh" shrimp. ;)

The solution as suggested above is to just buy frozen shrimp in an original bag (such as you find at Costco), and thaw them quickly under cool water immediately prior to seasoning.

I was thinking of walking to the frozen section after probably paying twice the price for for them to defrost the shrimp for me. Also they were tiny when I got home. Yours look very good.

The shrimp looks good A....L! :) It must have tasted good with the garlic marinade with the DP kick.

I suppose great minds think alike. I had sauteed brussel sprouts Thursday night.

    R...........A,
I like it a little, but the last couple of time I cut them up. I liked them better that way.
