Marinaded Tri-tip O so good
Ross in Ventura
Posts: 7,234
When I was at Steph's Big Brother Smokes house for a get together he told me about marinading Tri-tip in Kikkoman Roasted Garlic Teriyaki Sauce. So I did today

A 3.80 lb. untrimmed Tri-tip punched some holes with a large fork.

Put in a zip-lock bag with the marinade in the fridge for 7hrs.
I wanted some stuffed potatoes with it.

Bacon grease

Salt and pepper

On the raised grid @ 400* for an hour

This is the paint scraper my brother Cal turned me on to to scrape my grids, gets into all the place's

Green onions, Shallots, mushrooms, garlic, bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, and Grana Padano Parmesan cheese

Tri-tip on the CIG for 3-min a side @400*

Then on a raised grid for 30-min. a side @ 350*

Turned over the Tri-tip and added the stuffed potatoes for another 30-min.

After another 30-min pulled the Tri @130* interior and potatoes to rest for 10-min.

Served with Brussels sprouts. The Tri-tip was vary tender and vary tasty.
Thanks for looking

Ross, that looked very tasty. Nice job. You have convinced me, it's time to head to Costco and pick some up again. I have never done them in Teriyaki, something I need to tri.

Looks good Ross!
I tried an untrimmed from Albertsons awhile back. Wasn't too bad, but had to special order it - took a couple of days. How was the meat quality? I still like Costco's better, just can't get them around here.

Ross, although you've posted your wonderful tri tips many a time, I learned several new things from your post today.
1) What a raw untrimmed tri tip looks like (I just noticed one in the grocery store for the first time this weekend and was wondering if it truly was a tri tip, it tapered down to a skinny little point).
2) Use disposable gloves to butter the potato skins (unless my sister, the ecopolice woman is around).
3) And last, but not least get out there and cook a tri tip!
Beautiful pictures as always Ross.

Great post Ross I think i'll try it some time. Tim

Great looking cook Ross. Funny how different cuts of meat are only located at certain parts of the country. And the price difference is vast. Up here in the bay area tri-tip is plentiful and is 2.99 per pound on sale.Dave San Jose, CA The Duke of Loney

Looks great. I've never cooked that before (I don't think) either. May have to try. IS that the same as "beef tips"? I know the butcher here has those and people say they are good. Just wondering.
Oh and how do you eat it? Sauce? Spices only? Just like a steak?
