barbecued meats and smoked foods cause cancer

  • And eating is linked to living. ;)

Read Good Calories Bad Calories by Gary Taubes and you'll probably never believe a word of science you can't observe with your own eyes.

Oh, and smoking your meat will lead to worldwide climate catastrophe too...

So many theories, fresh meat and veggies in my opinion. Old timers use to eat meat and lard and potatoes and lived well into their 40s.

But he got e'coli from an "off temp" salad bar...and died!!

I spent most of my money on good bourbon, and bad women...the rest, I just wasted!!

so i'm the only one so far that didn't know that the grilling and smoking process was carcinogenic? i guess anything dealing with smoke causes cancer?

i'd argue that a couple beers a day does more good than harm though.... ;o)

i know "we're all gonna die someday" and "you have to die from something" etc....

but people make choices not to smoke cigs because they cause cancer and some people don't worry about it, but you can't by cigs that don't tell you that they cause cancer, but last time i checked, BGE, Weber, etc, weren't issuing health warning with their grills and i often hear people losing weight and getting healthier by grilling out more and eating out less.

the topic was meant to be serious (but i don't mind humor).

What I find odd with these studies is that they don't differentiate the sources of how the meat is smoked or cooked. I would imagine meat cooked over charcoal made from pressed chared wood scraps and added chemicals started with lighter fluid would be much more carcenogenic than the same meat cooked over open flamed wood or lump charcoal started with an electric starter or chimney.
I'm neither a scientist nor a doctor, but I have to believe that eating anything from meat to vegetables that are cooked over coals or wood that is saturated in a petroleum based product is bad for anyone.

The internet doesnlt lie! I live by its dictums.

I sit in the dark, as all my usable lights are fluorescent. No cell phone. No meat. No dairy, especially milk. No coffee. No icecreeam. No icewater. No sugar. No white flour. No eggs (even green).

To be safe, I live on pasteurized soybeans, alfalfa, and warm water.

I will probably live at least 3 more days.

thanks for all the responses. even the jokes.

i don't guess i ever knew or had it pointed out to me that eating smoked meats can cause stomach cancer.

i'll buy a treadmill and do cardio for 45 minutes a day. that should offset anything bad.... well not cancer, but i'll have a healthier heart..... whatevs....

At least you'll tolerate the chemo better.
Don't worry about it, Jason. Just practice moderation.

There are many other factors that can contribute to stomach cancer, unrelated to smoked foods. - Chronic reflux, genetics, helicobacter infection, etc.
