either way is fine. if the leaves looked like the Canadian flag, it's maple.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Yes, no damage at all. I've been meaning to take pics of the tree that was cut down, and the nice wood pile by the house. (the nice wood pile that i have no fireplace for, but i figure i'll use it when we go camping.) But i've been slacking in the pic department lately.

Green will be fine. However, I always use hickory. Some mix in some oak as well. Others say pecan is good too, but I've never even seen pecan. Maple might be fine for a butt, but I've never tried it.I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Use it now, some say that the green wood smokes more, I've never really been able to tell much difference. Let us know how you like it as compared to cherry, apple, hickory etc
