when your in there egg them on to get some pearls, if enough people ask and ask over and over they will get some. they are pricey compared to the blue collar place i go to but they can get great beef ribs and tritips etc and they will ship from their other stores if you need something and they are out at the one your at. eventually there will be several in the area, they grow fast. they also put out alot of samples to pick from, steak tips, chicken, shepards pie, usually can eat enough to make up the price difference

I "took advantage" of one of their promotional programs and was not impressed. Their burgers were OK,well everything was OK. I grew weary of the constant pressure sales calls and their upselling.

I found it hard to get rid of them.

Have you looked around to see if you have a good local butcher? I had been driving past some great Mom and Pop shops and hadn't really noticed several in my town until I got an egg and started really paying attention to quality.

Grocery stores vary widely in their meat depts. Some are actually quite good. I also have developed a decent eye for evaluating quality and marbling myself in the last 2 years just by paying close attention and reading this forum.

Omaha obviously has good marketing, but if they are giving you the runaround there are just too many other good options that I would pursue.

I have a great idea. Send me $100 and I will send you the same quality cooler and a half gallon of Crown Royal! (or Dewar's, Jack...)

Sadly I don't have a marketing plan to make people think that this is a "must have"

  • I guess it's obvious that Omaha Steaks = cat food, and that's if you don't like your cat!

Local Butcher and Costco are the best way to go. I have also had success with the dry-aged steaks from Whole Foods, a little pricey but even the fat tastes great.

I believe they deliver too. Can anyone attest to that?

Their quality was very good 20 years ago, but now they are selling mass meat at a premium prise.

I don't get it. I don't think I have ever purchased Omaha Steaks, but I do receive a gift package from time to time. I have yet to be disappointed in their steaks. They don't actually LOOK like the pics posted earlier!

That is not to say that they are not overpriced, or that one could not find better meat locally, but I have always enjoyed them - and I would certainly not feed them to my cat!!!

Even if I had a cat.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!
