We've been here 30 years now and last fall was the first and only time we have seen wild turkeys - until today's second sighting. This hen with a brood of three was feeding in our side yard.

Ron,
We have them in the bush behind the house too. Apparently Ontario traded Michigan moose for turkeys. They are everywhere

they are strong here in Maine this year too. We have a flock that comes out of the woods by the studio and entertain the class when it is going on. They can wreck a yard though if you feed them :(

Funny how things change! When I was growing up in Kentucky we hunted cottontail rabbits all winter and they were plentiful, now you hardly ever see one anywhere, but whitetail deer and turkeys, which were almost non-existent in those days are eveywhere. I have wild turkeys eating out of my birdfeeders, deer running through the yard daily, it is amazing! Mother Nature at work! :cheer:

When we first built here we had quail underfoot and then some feral cats appeared and no more quail, but then some coyotes appeared and then no more cats. Deer are plentiful here too though I still see and hear the coyotes so they must have reached a working relationship...but no bunnies here either! :laugh:Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time
