WOW! This think is amazing, I have never gotten my XL so hot so fast,
I have a question though, when using it do you just open up the small valve a little more to get some more serious flame than just lighting it, or do you go full force and pull the trigger?
Pulliing the trigger seems a little too much, sparks and flames go everywhere!
Thanks for the feedback.

full trigger cleans the grid off as well as lighting it
dont know how the bge grid would hold up though, havent tried it with the original. fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
yea, i guess you could put the grid on first and then light the lump.
will try that next time,, maybe tonight.XL Walled Lake, MI -
I crack the little knob about a quarter to half turn and just EASE/squeeze on the trigger, not anything close to pulling it full throttle. I back the torch up, pull it out a little, too, as the lump comes to life. Its a powerful unit you have to be careful. WEAR EYE PROTECTION just looking out fer yer own good.

It's a guy thing, who can not go full throttle for a little bit anyway.
People are pretty skeptical when it is stated an egg can be lit and at temperature within a minute or two.

We love ours and another handy thing it does is roast the skins off peppers :P I toss them on the grill and hit a few times and turn and hit a few more all nice and black  rest a few minutes and then the skin just slouches off under running water

MainEgg, thanks for the pepper idea I never would have thought of it. I heard some chef admonish folks for runnning roasted peppers under water because it removes so much taste. The chef's advice was that it was better to live with a little black and lots of taste than rinse them clean. Now I live a little dirty. Its my dirty little secret, the only one.

Can you please take pictures of this lighting technique? And do you have any pictures of the hot tub in use??
:pinch:
:silly: :woohoo: :P
 -
I open it about halfway and not use the turbo lever, unless Ive been drinking.

I only pull the trigger when friends are over and I want to scare them.

I guess that's ok as long as you don't aim it at them when you pull that trigger  -
First time I lit mine, I accidentally squeezed the trigger... Didn't know my fat old cat could run that fast!
-
I hardly ever pull the trigger, but sometimes I just can't resist.

well, just fired up the egg for salmon tonight.. it was at 350 in just under 10 minutes. used to take 20 minutes with the starter blocks or using the small propane torch. I think i can preheat faster to 350 than my inside oven.
