As part of my deal with the wife when I bought my egg, I told her that we would be making pizzas on the egg. We'll that time has come and I need suggestions on how to setup my egg. I have the following eggcessories at my disposal: Spider, Adjustable Rig ("AR"), BGE large pizza stone, a 14" round drip pan, and extra crossbars for the AR. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Use your plate setter legs down and separate the pizza stone from the plate setterwith the little green Eggleggs (I use two pieces of 1/2" copper tubing with 90 elbows on each end) Heat the Egg to 500-550 dome and you are ready to go.

Or if you don't have spare feet, then this:

Any spacer between the platesetter and stone will work.

If you don't have a platesetter then put the stone on the grid on top the rig the get it as high as you can in the egg. You'll want to go at lower temps (400-450) of you risk burning the bottom without a substantial heat shield between the lump and the stone. Use your drip pan on a lower level of the rig to help deflect the heat.

Just to clarify, I do not have a plate setter. Sorry for the confusion.

Go with Fidel. It will still be the best pizza you have ever had. Enjoy.

You really do need to get a platesetter and go with the suggestions shown.

I have a rig setup I use all the time, no platesetter.
I've tried 2 different configuration. But I also use 2 pizza stones, fyi.

1 - Place the spider inverted on the fire ring. Then pizza stone #1 on that. Put the AR on and then your top grate. On top of that I have #2 pizza stone.
I've had good success with this setup.

2 - With the AR in the egg put your grate on top. Then put #1 pizza stone. Next put the spider inverted on the top cooking grate. #2 pizza stone on top of the spider. I've tried this a few times and find the top of the pizza cooks a little faster especially with high heat cooks. Use this when I do Neapolitan

The set up I use with the adjustable rig. Is the 13 inch stone on the top bars then spacers and a bge 14 inch stone. I use 1/4 inch thick rings for my space. If you don't have two stone I have also use fire bricks.
