Why is it called a Plate Setter?

Well why is it? I would never put my plates in the egg? :P

Plate Setter is a device used by ceramic artists to fire plates they make.
It resembles the plate setter BGE uses. -
they are used in the making of ceramic plates and tiles and some genius egger years ago decided to use one in a BGE.

What they said. It is often incorrectly referred to as a "Place Setter" for unknown reasons.
In fact, some Eggheads believe them to be two different devices.

Same reason so many people can't figure out the difference between marinate and marinade.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!
