All my shirts smell like smoke...

I only got up twice last night. Once at 1AM and again at 5AM. Cook's doing fine now at 6AM progressing right on schedule. Dome was 220° and meat 167° at six so I kicked it open just a skosh, not much.
There is a smell coming from the daisy that is indescribably sweet. The "smell of smoke in the morning" comment on an earlier post resonates with me and now has real meaning. It isn't so much the smoke as the smoky goodness of that luscious pork. Real BBQ. I am looking for the lighted cross on my fence. The air is crisp and the egg is warm as the fragrance wafts over the neighborhood. I have a cup of 'spresso made on the stovetop and life is good.

That is a great smell when you walk outside and you know things are going well and you have your first cup of coffee. How long has it been on?

Good morning, Mark. Good to hear from you this am. I agree there is nothing like this feeling.
They went on about 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. -
Agree. There's magic in the smoke. There's times I think of putting some type of pork on the grill just to enjoy the smoke while working out side, eventhough we have plans to eat out that night. Can always put the pork in the frig for another day.

Good morning. Sitting here at work bored...lol Can't wait to go home at noon and throw some ribs on. How much longer for your cook? Have you been taking pictures? I can't wait to do another one since I'm not afraid to do it now.

Barry, spoken like a true believer. Good Morning to you. What are you cookin' today? Its Saturday so I know you have plans.
-
Mark, I posted my getting started pics on a different thread, "Hey, its Four o'clock." I will post the finished pictures to document the event.

Good deal Bruddah! I did an overnighter last weekend, a 10lb'er, Egg settled in a little shy of 250 but I let it ride. Ended up taking 19hours.
I'm having a cup of French Pressed Kona right now, with real cream. -
You are so correct, AAAHHHH the smell of sweet smoke & butt in the morning, little birds chirping along with a nice cup of coffee. Ain't life grand!
Now you better take some pictures of the finish product or else your in trouble! :P -
Ron, a man after my own heart, strong coffee and real barbeque. Thanks for the good words last night they were a wonderful accompaniment to my first all nighter.
I would let it ride if I didn't have a schedule to keep. I have my heart set on serving an early Mother's Day lunch before my sweetie goes to work. -
maXim, How did you know the bird's were chirping? Yes, they were and it just added to the experience of dawn and the sweetness in the air.

GREAT!! Nothing better than the smell of smoke and meat! :cheer:
-
BigA, couldn't agree more unless it might be that first bite or the nibble before that.

I have gone outside more then once in the middle of the night to discover skunks also enjoy that BBQ smell. I generally look around the patio from inside before opening the door. :ermm:
-
I never thought about that but I bet you're right. If we like the smell I'm sure there are animals out there that also like it
-
bring the gun!! Just make sure the shot is in the back of the head, then it wont release the stink!!
-
You mean sneak up behind a skunk to get a clean shot and bust a branch under foot and your toast.
-
I often fire one up with just a wood chunk and throw an cut up onion in the lump jusy to smell smoke. No food. :silly:
cheers
