Has anyone actually used this ? I saw it at Sam's club today. I didn't buy any because I just scored 2 bags of BGE lump for 17 bucks a sack. they were selling it for 17.88 a 40# sack. I saw it was average on TNW's site, but was just curious if any liked it or hated it.

I get it at my Sam's for $14.27 ea and I find it satisfactory for my newbie needs. Maybe after a few dozen cooks I'll become more discriminating.

The review on my site is no doubt the older Frontier. (Does the bag photo match what you bought?) I'm going to be working on a review next after the current review is finished (True 'Cue). The Naked Whiz

That's what threw me a bit and prompted the question. The bags looked a little different I believe. My girlfriend just told me the lump was 14.87 for 40 pounds

I just bought 2 20# bags for $10.00 each. I cooked a pizza with it last night and was fairly impressed. Got up to 600 fairly quickly.

Yep, I've used a bag of the new stuff and thought, in general, it was ok. I'll know more obviously when I actually test it, sort it, burn it, etc.The Naked Whiz

I bought 2 bags of it a couple weeks ago and finished up one bag last night doing pizza. So far so good. Last night though when I went to put on the first pizza I had fine gray ashes all over the inside and on the pizza stone. I just wiped it and went. 1st time this happened with this lump so who knows...Hey the price is right 40 lbs for less than half the cost of 20 lb BGE lump

I noticed that white ash too. I re-lit the used coal last night for a Chicken breast cook and it took a long time to get to 350.
