From a distributor. I've never seen it in a retail store. Our nearest distributor is Northwest Charcoal & Chemical Co., 2900 17th Ave. S., Minneapolis, 612-879-8044, if that helps.

They bag Royal Oak, Big Green Egg, and Nature-Glo. I believe it is all the same lump. The only difference is Nature-Glo is about half the price of BGE.

I might be wrong, but I order about 10 bags of Naure-Glo a month from them, delivered, and the last order they dropped was Royal Oak. I asked that what the deal was and the driver (and I think owner) said that it was the same stuff and they just ran out of Nature-Glo bags.

Who bags it for them then?

Got ya. I just assumed he meant they were bagging it locally. Must all come from a big RO plant. Makes you wonder where they bag it all up and if it's just like the Duff beer plant where all the different beers come from one vat ;).

Unless something has changed Nature-Glo is the packaging Royal Oak uses when it is sold to food distributors such as SYSCO and US Foods. I am sure there are others. It is then sold to food businesses. If I order lump from SYSCO that's what I get. But I can actually get RO cheaper from Wal-Mart and Restaurant Depot. And I get my preferred lump, Fire King even cheaper from a farmer's co-op near me that sells 40lbs for $17.

I used to get it at GFS (Gordon Food Service). Now they carry their own GFS label. Made in USA. Could be the same stuff. Price keeps creeping up. It's now about 12.99 for 20 lbs.

Didn't Northwest Charcoal move from 17th Ave? I tried calling them last fall and after the phone rang and rang dozens of times the answering machine picked up and gave an address in Isanti. I drove by the next week and it did appear to be closed. Are they back in Minneapolis now?

Boy, the might have moved. I've never been there, I just call them and they deliver.
