Check out Coltronics too. It's supposed to be the best. Check out Bubba Tim's website
www.bubbatim.com
He has a lot of information and a great pictorial on how to install it.
Rutland and Nomex are good too. -
cool...
where does one get a coltronic or nomex? anyone ever look at an msds sheet? are they safe around food, the adhesive as well. -
Also check out The Naked Whiz' website. It has some good info as well

I just got some aramid gasket from Mcmaster.com It is the same as nomex just a generic. I got a 50 foot roll. They sell it by the foot. The part # is 8796K52.

If you go with nomex make sure you preshrink in drier or oven. I did mine in the oven for 20 minutes at 250 then cooled and did at 350 for 20 minutes. A 72 inch strip shrunk 3/4 of an inch.

cool....i assume this stuff is safe around food?
what is that wire ring inside your egg and what is it for -
how many feet did u buy for a large egg?
did u use that 3m 77 adhesive. where do u get that. -
It is the same as nomex. I bought a 50 foot role. You need 12 feet to do a large. They sell a 15 foot piece. I used 3m 77
The wire ring is a spider from the ceramic grill store.

It is used to hold a pizza stone to do indirect cooks. I also use it for searing steaks and holding cast iron pans. -
Also, you can set a wok on the spider.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

thanks a bunch.
i can have the gasket delivered free shipping monday at my business -
The Coltronics ceramic tape and adhesive is the best solution to fix the gasket problem on the eggs. I'm pretty sure that once the glue dries it is safe to use. Who is to say the the original gasket and adhesive is food safe? The sticky tape and gasket burns up pretty easily and that can't be good for you. So just don't baste your BBQ with it and you should be good.
If the Green egg was a Toyota, it would have been recalled.
